I suppose this makes sense. In my experience, atheism is not a disbelief in God, but an intense hatred of God or His people. So atheism is certainly not an absence of religious belief. And animism is fairly common in people groups without formal theology, right?
Indeed. Like Sicily, or any other place where Catholicism goes to seed.
